Background of Kahalu Upazila
It is known that a saint called Hazrat Shah Sufi Syed Kalu, the youngest brother of Gazi Zia Uddin, came to the place and established a place near the present Kahalu Police Station. From here he started preaching Islam and he died here. There is a shrine of this saint inside the Kahalu police station, which is known as Kalu Babar Mazar. According to the name of Saint Pir, the name of the name of the district has been named as "Kahalu". Kahalu was established as administrative police station in 1928 and was upgraded to the upazila in 1983.
